Hello, my amazing foodie friends! 💖 This is Your K-Friend at K.RIDE!
Are you planning a trip to Jeonju, the official food capital of Korea? (I’m so excited for you!) Get ready for a culinary adventure you’ll never forget.
But how do you find the real gems? Forget the tourist traps! I’ve curated a special list for you based on real-time popularity data from Kakao Navi, Korea’s #1 navigation app.
This means these are the Top 10 spots where actual locals are driving to right now. Let’s go eat like a true Jeonju local! ✨
🍜 My Top 10 Jeonju Restaurants (Where Locals Actually Go!)
1. Veteran (베테랑)

- What to Expect: This place is a LEGEND in the Hanok Village. It’s a casual, bustling spot famous for its unique Kalguksu (noodle soup). It’s creamy, savory, and topped with perilla seeds and chili powder. So good!
- Location: 135, Gyeonggijeon-gil, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si
- 💡 My K-Friend Tip: You must get the Kalguksu and an order of Mandu (dumplings) to share. Don’t be scared by the red powder on the noodles! It looks spicy, but it’s surprisingly mild and incredibly addictive.
2. Jojumrye Nammun Pisundae (조점례남문피순대)

- What to Expect: This is a must-visit near Nambu Market! They are famous for Sundae-gukbap (blood sausage soup). It’s a rich, hearty, and deeply flavorful soup packed with Pisundae (a special Jeonju-style blood sausage) and pork.
- Location: 39, Pungnammun 2-gil, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si
- 💡 My K-Friend Tip: This is the perfect spot for a cold day. If you’re new to sundae, this is the best place to try it. Be sure to add the chives and seasoning paste from the table into your soup!
3. Jeonju Weng-i Kongnamul Gukbap Jeonmunjeom (전주왱이콩나물국밥전문점)

- What to Expect: You can’t leave Jeonju without trying Kongnamul Gukbap (bean sprout soup with rice). This is the city’s most famous breakfast and hangover cure! This spot is iconic, serving a clean, refreshing, yet deeply flavorful soup.
- Location: 88, Dongmun-gil, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si
- 💡 My K-Friend Tip: When they bring the soup, it comes with a separate raw egg (수란). Don’t crack it into the soup! The local way is to add a few spoonfuls of the hot soup broth into the egg cup, add some shredded seaweed, and eat it as an appetizer!
4. Gilgeoriya (길거리야)

- What to Expect: My favorite snack in the Hanok Village! This popular street food stall is famous for its “Baguette Burger.” It’s a crispy baguette hollowed out and filled with a savory, slightly spicy mixture of minced pork and veggies.
- Location: 124, Gyeonggijeon-gil, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si
- 💡 My K-Friend Tip: It’s the perfect quick snack to eat while walking around. It can be a little messy, so grab extra napkins! It’s one-of-a-kind and so delicious.
5. Hankookjib (한국집)

- What to Expect: It’s Jeonju! You have to try Bibimbap! 🍚 This is one of the most famous and oldest restaurants for authentic Jeonju Bibimbap, and they pride themselves on using high-quality local ingredients.
- Location: 119, Eojin-gil, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si
- 💡 My K-Friend Tip: I recommend getting the Dolsot Bibimbap (돌솥비빔밥), which is served in a sizzling hot stone pot. It creates a delicious crispy rice crust (nurungji) at the bottom!
6. Nokdukkot (녹두꽃)

- What to Expect: If you want to try a Hanjeongsik (a traditional Korean full-course meal) without breaking the bank, I highly recommend this place. They focus on fresh, local ingredients and authentic flavors.
- Location: 106-1, Paldal-ro, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si
- 💡 My K-Friend Tip: Order the Nokdukkot Jeongsik (set meal). It’s a fantastic way to try a little bit of everything, including their amazing Sundubu Jjigae (soft tofu stew).
7. Nobel Banjeom (노벨반점)

- What to Expect: Want to try something really local and unique? This Chinese-Korean restaurant is famous for its Muljajang. It’s not the black bean sauce you’re used to! It’s a starchy, savory, seafood-based noodle dish.
- Location: 98-1, Pungnammun 2-gil, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si
- 💡 My K-Friend Tip: Be adventurous and try the Muljajang! It’s a flavor you can pretty much only find in Jeonju.
8. Jeonil Gabo (전일갑오)

- What to Expect: This is a true K-Friend secret! It’s the home of “Gamaek” (a portmanteau of “store” and “beer”). It’s basically a small supermarket where you grab your own beers and pay for them… but they are famous for their Hwangtae-po (dried and grilled pollock).
- Location: 16, Hyeonmu 2-gil, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si
- 💡 My K-Friend Tip: This is a must-do local experience. Order the hwangtae-po, and they’ll serve it with a magical dipping sauce (soy sauce, mayo, sesame, and hot peppers). It’s the best beer snack in Korea!
9. Oehalmeoni Somssi (외할머니솜씨)

- What to Expect: The most famous dessert spot in the Hanok Village! This charming cafe specializes in traditional Korean desserts, especially their Heugimja Patbingsu (Black Sesame Shaved Ice).
- Location: 81-8, Omokdae-gil, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si
- 💡 My K-Friend Tip: Their signature Black Sesame Bingsu is a must-try. It’s nutty, sweet, and has chewy tteok (rice cakes) on top. It’s the perfect way to cool down after walking around!
10. Gyodong Seokgalbi (교동석갈비)

- What to Expect: Do you love Korean BBQ but don’t want the hassle of grilling it yourself? This is the spot! They serve Seokgalbi—deliciously marinated pork ribs that are grilled for you in the kitchen and served on a hot stone plate.
- Location: 26 Taejo-ro, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si
- 💡 My K-Friend Tip: Get the Maeun Seokgalbi (spicy version) if you like a little kick! It’s so tender and flavorful. I love pairing it with their Yeonnipbap (rice cooked in a lotus leaf).
🚖 How to Get Around Jeonju?
Okay, so now you have your dream list! But… the Hanok Village is a confusing maze, and Nambu Market and the “Gamaek” spots are all spread out. 😥
It can be tough to walk everywhere, especially at night when you’re full and tired.
